Own Words

Is there such a thing as an average person? We’re all interesting or different or quirky in our own ways- that’s what makes life so bizarre and fun.

Random things about me:

I was born in Jeonju, the food capital of Korea. I grew up in a household that knows how to eat and eat well, and I am eternally grateful for the palate and recipes that my parents have passed along to me.

At the age of three, my family- parents and one younger sister- tore our roots out of the motherland and jetted to the U.S., landing in Fresno. We relocated to Southern California and the bucolic town of Cerritos shortly afterward.

I attended Whitney High School, then the Art Institute of California- Los Angeles. After two years and one associate’s degree, I fled the previously safe confines of education systems and started working.

Commercials, videogame cinematics, a memorable music video, short films, and even a pilot for an animated TV show came in quick succession at my first job. I fell in love with the process of getting post-production work done, I turned 21, and I learned how to bid a show during my stint.

Almost seven years and six companies later, and I am still enamored of my profession. I love it and hate it in equal measures, proof that I am where I should be. I have graduated to working on feature films, a childhood dream fulfilled.

I maintain a blog that seems to emphasize my Korean background (http://jeannybeans.blogspot.com) and my love of working, cooking, baking, writing, critiquing, reading, and taking useless pictures.

I am Korean-American, and I couldn’t be happier.
