I’m not Nepalese. Or Filipina. Or Latina. I’m Korean. Yes, I am sure. My family first arrived in Hawaii in 1905, so no, I don’t speak Korean. Neither did my mom. Neither did my grandparents. I do speak Italian, though, because my dad is Italian, and that always messes with people. I am proud of my Korean-Italian heritage. Wouldn’t want to be anything else so please don’t make me choose. I am both. I am Italian. I am Korean. I am American.
