I am always amused that people are surprised when they find out I’m Korean. That surprise grows exponentially when I tell them I was born in Seoul, spent some formative years there, speak Korean and can probably throw down in the kitchen better than your mom (just kidding moms, my own included).
My family settled down in Atlanta, and I went to college in Nashville (Go ‘Dores!) making me for all intents and purposes a southerner, and I am a southerner through and through! For example if I ask for sweet tea and you bring me unsweet tea and sugar, I will give you the stink eye. Also “y’all” should be used daily and often.
My research is actually “mesearch” and it is all about people who are multiracial – specifically, any sort of racial mixture that doesn’t include white. I think my research is cool, I guess that’s why I’m doing it…
Korean dramas slay me. I cannot watch a series without rolling my eyes through each and every episode. I love that SHINee song 누난 너무 예뻐 (Replay), well really I love most k-pop/r&b songs, but that one just popped up on my itunes.
I think my mom would pass out if I brought home a Korean guy she approved of. I think it’s interesting she keeps hoping for that to happen.
