Own Words

My name is Philip a.k.a. MOTH and I am a structural engineer major at UC San Diego and the drummer of the Asian-American Band called Seriously. (http://www.seriouslytheband.com)

As corny as this may sound, I am a firm believer that love is all you need. From the few years of my living, I could safely say that we tend to engulf ourselves in the worldly pleasures and success that are fleeting and temporal…nothing that is rooted in deep soil or in love.

As a musician, having a taste of how corrupted and twisted this world is, I find hope and encouragement through the Korean-American churches that strive to exemplify the community that is displayed in the Gospel. Being in such a community, I’ve experienced a genuine love that goes against society’s upbringings and, from that, I hope to illustrate such love through my relationships and actions as a musician, an engineer, a Korean-American, and a child of God.

A love that is God, the Gospel, a love that can be displayed, but not in its entirely, in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7…is the love that I am speaking of.

Knowing that the majority of Korean-Americans are Christians, I am very grateful and can proudly say that I am a Korean-American.
