student, soon to be chef
I like most Asians get this questions…”So where are you from?”
My response, “I am basically Nebraskan.”
I was adopted from South Korea when I was about 6 months old. People are always so surprised or fascinated by me when I say my parents are white, my sister is Korean, and one brother is white and the other black. I would like to say I have a rainbow family.
I guess I am your typical Asian in some ways: bad driver, fan of all Fast and the Furious movies, techno/trance is some of the best music out there, and I guess you could say I’m like a human calculator. But then again I have two tattoos and hoping for many more and no I’m not going to be a doctor but rather a chef.
My dream is to one day go to Korea and experience its culture, learn more about myself. Open up a restaurant (not just serving Korean food) but a blend of everything I am.
Being Korean American is who I am but influenced by so much more.
