I am Changho, Chang, Charles, and Charlie.
* CHANG HO HAN: I was born with this name in Pusan, Korea 37 years ago. Being called Chang-ho for 19 years.
* CHANG HAN: Since I came to the States, a part of my first name ‘HO’ has socially taken off because there was a space between CHANG and HO on my South Korean passport. Being called CHANG for 12 years.
* CHARLES CHANGHO HAHN: Since naturalized as an American citizen, CHARLES became my first name, CHANGHO (with no space!) as middle name, and an H is added to the last, HAN, as HAHN for better phonetic sound to the original last name. So I am currently CHARLIE HAHN and considering hyphenating my mother’s maiden name, KANG, as HAHN-KANG.
I am North Korean, South Korean, and American.
* North Korean: Both my parents were born in North Korea and they moved to South during Korean War. I am North Korean by blood principle.
* South Korean: Both my parents were South Korean when I was born. I am South Korean by personal principle.
* American: I became a naturalized citizen when I was 32. I am an American by legal principle.
I am a hybrid global citizen.
* I care about earthquake in Haiti, war in Afghanistan and Iraq, global warming, and democracy in the world.
