Description

Sahngnoksoo is a Seattle-based organization working to build political power for the self-determination and liberation of Koreans of all identities.

Our members include Koreans who are adopted, immigrants, queer, transgender, and multiracial, many of whom have been active parts of broader LGBT, immigrant rights, and racial justice struggles.

Sahngnoksoo translates to “evergreen” and is a symbol of strength and commitment in Korean movement history.

Our current projects include:

Study Groups
We meet every other month for collective, interactive study on diverse topics, especially concerning Korean history & political issues.

SPAM Video Project
We are creating a short documentary film about US militarism in Asia, through the narrative tool of the beloved canned meat..

Pungmul Drumming
We bring the noise of rural shamanistic traditions and modern protest movements to marches and rallies.

Collaboration & Solidarity
We frequently collaborate with other local, national, and international organizations working for social justice. Current collaborative projects include pan-Asian Pacific Islander American Freedom School and bi-monthly solidarity dinner/discussions.
