Owner - Korean Gifts & Arts
I am currently the Owner of Koreana Gifts & Arts, the oldest Korean Gift Store in the United States, established in 1960. http://www.koreanagifts.com/servlet/StoreFront
I taught Art for 15 years, and was featured in the Los Angeles Times, the Pasadena Daily Star, and on CNN with Linda Joyce for the murals my students created. I am trying to create a private Art Class to teach Korean high school students the skills and techniques required to paint large murals so we can paint large murals of traditional Korean Culture and History in the Los Angeles Korea Town area.
I am a third-generation Korean. Both of my Grandfathers came to the United States in 1902 – 1903. My Maternal Grandfather, Choong Sup Park was instrumental in building the first Korean Church in the United States, Korean Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, and he donated the stained glass window at the head of the sanctuary to honor his Mother. My Paternal Grandmother, Rosa Sunoo, was active in the Korean National Association in the 1930s and 1940s collecting donations of food, medical supplies, and money to send to Korea during the Japanese occupation. My Father, Harold Yoon, his two brothers, and all five of my Mom’s brothers fought for the United States Army in Europe during World War II.
