Writer & Poet
Hi everyone,
I am a story teller (writer, poet), interpreter, and translator. I love reading various kind of books from poetry to mystery novel. At the same time, I write whenever I can. Sometimes, I write a short fiction, and other times I write a poem. It all depends on my inspiration at that time. Beside reading and writing, I do translate and interpret Korean into English and vice versa. Ultimately, I would like to translate as many Korean poems as I can into English so that I can publish my own poetry, together with the translated Korean poems. That’s my long term goal. For now, I would like to do all those things: reading, writing, translating, and etc. I can’t cut off any of them. To keep up with what I would like to do, I make myself busy.
I think that the best way to introduce myself is through my creative work. A few years ago, I had an odd inspiration during my meditation, which made me compose this poem. I hope you enjoy it. If you want to see more of my poems, you can visit my blog: http://sunyoospoetry.blogspot.com
“In Meditation”
The moon is in searchlight
melancholy and pain concealed my fatigue
in its boundless domain.
Suddenly, I was gripped by a fear
as naked night pierces my eyes
and tried to flee but failed.
What was it that possessed me?
Was it the motionless oak tree at the corner of the windowpane?
Or, the speechless shadow of the tree?
The tree seemed grim-faced and still
I zipped and shivered like a naked tree-limb
lulled by the evening zephyr.
Yet, I clawed my way through
clutching the limb of consciousness.
I am so glad to join in this website and to meet everyone: Korean-American. It makes me so special to meet you through this website, for we share a common ground as being Korean-American. We share our food (of course Kim-Chee), ancestry, culture, tradition, and etc.I hope that we create “good karma” through this meeting. Nice to meet you everyone.
