Licensed Esthetician & Skincare Therapist
I was adopted at 3 months old from Seoul, South Korea. I grew up in a mostly Caucasian, suburban environment, but had many friends and cousins who were adopted not only from Korea, but from various different countries. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I expressed interest in learning more about Korean culture. I befriended several Koreans, participated in tae kwon do, learned how to make japchae, and even attempted to learn a little bit of the language. Although I have transitioned well into American culture, there is still a large part of me that will always remain Korean. This was difficult for me to comprehend growing up, but now I realize it is an asset. Not many people have the opportunity to “belong” to two countries. In the near future, I desire to travel to Seoul and experience my homeland firsthand.
Currently, I work as a Licensed Esthetician and Skincare Therapist in upstate New York, specializing in preventative skincare treatments. With my ethnic background, I am able to bring another dimension to my workplace as I am able to treat various skincare conditions that are ethnically influenced. In addition, many Asian brides have come to my spa seeking make-up applications for their wedding. They appreciate my knowledge and familiarity of the Asian skin tone and facial features. I am proud to be Korean-American, and grateful for the opportunity to share my story.
