Seoul, South Korea
Lead Designer at Disrupt.kr
I am your average (HAH!) adopted Korean American.
Last year I decided to spontaneously pack up my things and leave my amazing apartment (which I miss tremendously but not enough to come back), my friends, my family, and my entire life in NYC for Seoul, South Korea without even having any plans lined up. Nothing at all. No job. No housing. Just a one way ticket and a stubborn sense of adventure. Thanks to Facebook and Twitter, surprisingly enough, I found everything I needed to make life possible back in the motherland. I now currently I work as a UX/UI designer for an awesome company called Disrupt.kr in Seoul, South Korea.
More random facts!
I’m left-handed. I’m a lesbian and am extremely proud of who I am. I had long hair until this year when I made the courageous move (this of course was aided by a few shots at the bar and some delicious Sake) to cut off my hair. I’m told this haircut suits me better. I like to smile, laugh really loud, tell jokes, and apparently… I sound like Ellen? (This last part I think is mostly due to too many drinks by my friends while they decide to come to realizations that voice twins may exist.)
I’ve had my UPs and my extremely huge DOWNs, but I’m better and feel much more awesome now that I’ve learned how to control and maintain a much more positive attitude.
I like witty jokes and sarcastic jokes, and if they manage to combine together in one sweet little scandalous affair, I enjoy witty sarcastic jokes.
I can’t fluently speak Korean but as I tell everyone who asks, I know enough to date!
I’ve been offered to try stand up comedy several times but have declined all of them. The world already has Margaret Cho as it’s designated Korean American screaming comedic relief, I’m not sure if it can handle another.
I like to snowboard, or as I like to call it, bomb down a hill on a plank of wood/fiberglass/whatever materials they make these things out of and pray you don’t kill anyone or yourself.
I grew up in Michigan, went to school in Florida, lived in Florida for a bit longer, got bored of Florida and moved to NYC, loved NYC but left it for Korea, and I’ve been happy ever since.
I have a section of the internet just for me but it’s be abandoned for so long that it’s digital lawn needs to get mowed, binary flowers replanted, and it’s content refreshed….BUT…if you really want to take a gander you can always visit www.adoptedkorean.com
