Own Words

My name is Jourden and I was born and raised in New York City. I’m a sophomore in highschool and my sexual orientation is currently bisexual.

Lady Gaga is my role model.

I have a passion for art, whether it be on paper, on a tray, or even expressed with body movements. My favorite animal is a giraffe. I can do neat tricks with my body, but I recently fractured my neck trying to do a back flip, so I’m staying away from that for now, haha.

Since I was born in the U.S. I couldn’t really adapt to the Korean language. So even now, it takes me some time to read and write in Korean. From the age of 4-8 I had a live in baby sitter who was Ecuadorian. She taught me how to speak, read and write in Spanish. So alongside English I became fluent in Spanish.

I’m not a ‘fob’ but people immediately think I am just because I look Asian; which I am, but then they start to expect all these things from me. I’ve been asked countless amount of times if I am North or South Korean. Honestly, do you really think I would be here if I was North Korean? Then they think I’m extremely smart. I understand that in Korea, kids are ahead in math compared to the kids on the U.S., but that just means they study. So in school I’m constantly asked questions, but honestly, I’m not too good in school.
