Some of my first memories are from living in the U.S. Army base in YongSan, South Korea. We were sad to leave Korea right before the 1988 Summer Olympics.
I was born to a Korean father and an American mother. My parents met while attending college in Michigan. My father left Korea for the U.S. when he was just a boy to live with his sister who married a U.S. Army soldier.
I spent most of my life in Maryland. It was hard being teased in grade school for being the new kid, Asian, and overweight. I graduated from college with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and worked as a video editor for a local ABC news affiliate in Arlington, VA for a stint before moving to Seattle.
I met my wonderful husband about 10 years ago and we now have a sweet little girl who we named Julia SoonAe (she was born in October 2009). We also have a floppy fluffy goldendoodle (poodle-golden retriever) named Muppet.
