That’s a tricky question… I started doing makeup in 2000 but did not officially start my company until April of 2010. Due to the downward turn in economy, I was laid off by my employer. I reached a crossroad in my life where I had to decide If I was going to work to make living or live for my work. I chose the latter.
I always feel I can do something to improve my current state and it’s hard not to compare those who are already well established. Comparing yourself to others in the industry is only discouraging. Oh, that and time management.
I know everyone has heard this before but it really doesn’t feel like work. Well, except for those 3:00AM call times. And, not only do I get to do what I love but others love what I do.
Just go for it. It’s going to be hard and there will be many doubts, but in the end everything will just work out. If it doesn’t? at least you tried and learned. Success comes from failing a few times.
