Own Words

To make this easier for me and any readers, here are 10 things about me:

1. I was born in Los Angeles, the son of Youngju (Eleanor) and Seok Yol (Sy) Han, but grew up a Valley boy in Northridge and currently live in my favorite area of Los Angeles.
2. I’m managing editor of Apartment Therapy Unplggd, a home technology and design site. I also formerly managed the Los Angeles site focused on home decor.
3. When not behind a keyboard, my true passion is hiking anywhere there’s a trail to be found.
4. Despite writing about technology every day, I am possibly the only person in Los Angeles who does not own a cell phone (search the NY Times under “refuseniks” and you’ll see my story).
5. Previous professional work was as an art director for various video game publications/books, then designed toys, children’s furniture and home accessories before landing my current job. I only need to work at a candy company to hit the kid’s dream jobs trifecta.
6. My Korean name is Han Chang Kook.
7. I’ve yet to visit Korea…this is a damn shame.
8. I once hosted the multi-nationality invitational, 2004 Asian Mustache Olympics, and to the shame of Korean Americans everywhere, I came in 2nd to last: http://asianlipservice.livejournal.com/ I’ve since begun a strict regimen of lathering Rogaine onto my upper lip, but now have to brush my teeth with a comb.
9. My lovely partner in crime and I are slaves to our two cats, Eero and Eames.
