I am a Korean adoptee who never had the privilege to reach 5′ tall. I was born in Daegu, South Korea and I was adopted when I was 3.5 years old. I grew up eating American food and playing soccer, but now I’m eating kimchi and learning Korean. I don’t know how to cook a lot of Korean food, but I do know how to eat it. I have been mistaken to be Native American, Japanese or Eskimo…who knew! It’s been quite the journey to finding out that my Korean-ness is ok, and now I always encourage others to be proud of who they are. It’s a wonderful thing to embrace, and I am proud to say that I am a Korean-American.
