What does your company do?

RoC’s mission is to provide an online medium by which start-up companies and bright entrepreneurs will be able to pool capital through crowd sourcing, while creating a community of advice and collaboration.
RoC is looking to help high impact startups which can use the capital raised from crowdinvestments to change the world! The four types of startups we are seeking to target are:
HighTech/WebTech
CleanTech
BioTech
Social Ventures
Some startups need more capital and some require less, but these types of startups can use the money raised at RoC to transform the way the business is grown and shared with the rest of the world!

When and how did your company start?

The company was officially launched in October 2011 with the anticipation that certain enabling legislation would be passed. Eagerly awaiting the bill, it was finally passed on April 5th 2012 and now we are in a SEC rule making period which needs to become completed before we can officially offer crowdfunding to our startups.
It was an idea that I had to help socially conscious and future driven businesses raise capital. This idea was born in 2010, however, the legislation was not such that this would easily permissible using the power of the internet or social media to leverage the power of the crowd. This all changed with the passing of the JOBS Act.

What's been one of the hardest challenges in running a business?

Managing my own expectations. As a startup founder one is always prone to have high expectations of execution speed and quality. However, I quickly came to realize that there are times where managing my own expectations in the short run will provide me with enough emotional steam to really get through the tough times.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

The people I work and surround myself with. Startup founders are always passionate, excited and are radiating innovation. They have seen a problem which now they seek to solve with their ideas and you bet that enthusiasm is contagious. And my team, without them none of this would be possible and interacting with them to see what they need and how I can help is a very enjoyable part of my day.

Advice for people looking to start up their own business?

Do it. It’s one of our mottos at the business as well as a huge startup saying. You have to do it to see it and or believe it, because a startup idea is only the tip of the iceberg with execution being the bulk of success.
